Yup. It’s still winter. This time of year can be tricky as we wait for that warm summer sun to return. Fortunately, you can create your own sunshine, and one of the best ways to do so is by trying something new. There’s a wonderful feeling of accomplishment that comes from learning, and gathering together with others who share a common interest is an instant mood boost. Ready for a dose of creative vitamin ME? Sign up for a class at The Art Cottage. The me-time will do you good, and they have so many ways you can approach the experience.

Make this the best part of every week!
Classes are offered for the following age groups:
- 3-5 Preschool Class
- 6-11 Children’s Mixed Media
- 10-16 Teen Class
- Adult Classes by Medium (ages 11+)
All children’s classes (preschool-teen) include supplies and explore various art mediums. Each week introduces a different project and step-by-step instruction from the instructor.
Adult classes are open project, and students are asked to bring their own supplies and something to work on. An instructor is in attendance to guide the process, offer tips, and guide each student in their personal interests. Class sizes are smaller, allowing for the more personalized instruction. It’s so much fun to see people come together to create. Friendships are made. New skills are developed. Confidence is gained. It’s great!
A new beginning course series starts on the first week of each month (right around the corner!) and runs for four weeks. Classes are held one day a week and last 1.5 hours.
Class Types
- Watercolor
- Acrylic/Oil Painting
- Drawing
This is a great place for those with little to no experience to start before moving on to the recurring class approach. You’ll learn new techniques and receive a beginner crash course for the specific art medium you sign up for.
Ready to go beyond the basics? Keep an eye on the one-night workshops. They let you dip your creative toe in all sorts of inspiring pools. Topics include watercolor, oil painting, still-life sketching, painting with a palette knife/impasto, and more!

All classes include the necessary supplies, and you’ll work on a specific project with step-by-step instruction from your teacher. Giving the gift of an experience is more popular than ever, and these classes make memorable moments to enjoy with someone you care about. See The Art Cottage website for the upcoming options.
Mark your calendar! The party happens every Friday and Saturday night from 6-8 PM with paint nights. You’ll find the details here.
Private paint parties are also an option and can be scheduled for a minimum of six people. A favorite is the children’s birthday parties. A booked party includes 1.5 hours of studio time, one hour of guided instruction, and a painted picture of the birthday child’s choice.
