There’s a new shop in bloom at Gardner Village. Simply Flowers opened yesterday, right across from the Chocolate Covered Wagon!
“My motto is ‘flowers, not filler,’” said Erin Veenendaal, Simply Flowers owner. “I don’t believe in packing an arrangement with baby’s breath and roses and calling it complete. In fact, I don’t even use baby’s breath. I put a lot of thought into the design process, moving away from traditional to give my customers out-of-the-box looks.”
ABOUT ERIN, THE SIMPLY FLOWERS OWNER
Erin didn’t grow up thinking she’d make a career out of floral design, but she has always loved flowers. “I literally always stopped to smell the roses,” she said.
What started as a hobby for Erin grew into much more when a friend of hers asked her to design the flowers for her wedding. She agreed and set to work. At the event, several guests asked her for a business card, planting the idea of business in her head.
“On the drive home from the wedding, about a 30-minute drive, I discussed the idea with my husband. By the time we had arrived home, my business was named, and before the night was through, I had registered the brand with the state and purchased the URL. Just like that, I was on my way.”
Erin worked out of her home for ten years, designing flowers for weddings, funerals, formal dances, everyday occasions, and more.
“One of my specialties is incorporating personal touches into my work. For example, I see a casket piece as a tribute to the deceased, and I add unique touches that represent who they were. I truly care about the families of those I serve. In fact, I’m the only florist in Utah that I know of who goes to funerals on the day of the service to refresh the flowers I’ve prepared. I see it as a way of honoring the deceased and their loved ones.”
Erin’s passion is obvious and her talent is made abundantly clear as you look at the arrangements on display in her sweet shop.
HOME DECOR AND GIFTS

CLASSES & CORPORATE EVENTS
Starting in November, Simply Flowers will offer its Let's Fleurish floral design workshops once a week. Whether you come alone, make it a date night, or enjoy a girls’ night out, this is a fun way to learn about floral design, and every student walks away with a stunning arrangement that represents their unique style.
“I’m amazed at the ability of those who come to make,” Erin said. “They think they have no idea what they’re doing, but they always walk out with the most stunning designs!”
Workshop topics will include seasonal centerpieces, holiday arrangements, succulent workshops, and even wreath making. Space is limited to 10 students per class, so you’ll want to keep an eye on the Simply Flowers website and register as these two-hour classes are announced.
You can also chat with Erin and her staff about hosting a corporate event. They have many unique ideas in store.
Simply Flowers is celebrating its open house on September 20. Come enjoy light refreshments, cake, and a chance to win a $50 store gift card.
As part of the celebration, take $10 off a single decor item priced at $30 or more between now and the end of September. Just mention that you saw this offer on the blog to receive your discount. Limit one offer per customer.
Come by and check out this gorgeous new Gardner Village addition. You’ll be glad you did! Take it from me. You’re likely to walk away with new flowers to love. (I Simply couldn’t help myself with this sweet number! It now sits happily in my home. Thanks, Erin!)
