Gardner Village Blog What's Next for Home Decor at Down to Earth

Say hello to Madison Lund. If you’ve shopped at Gardner Village any time in the past 2.5 years, you may recognize her cute face. She started with The Village at Down to Earth then went to Layers Bedding to take the Assistant Manager position. As much as she loved working at Layers, she’s decided to go back to her Down to Earth roots as the new manager. Congratulations, Madison!

Down to Earth couldn’t be in better hands. Madison is stylish, sophisticated, smart, and incredibly friendly. She makes shopping for home furnishings and decor fun.

When asked what she has in mind for the store, Madison said, “It’s hard to define my vision. It’s more of a feel than a word. But I can say that where Down to Earth has been transitional with traditional leanings, we’re excited to turn the wheel a bit to transitional with a more modern and contemporary feel.”

What does this mean as far as the feel is concerned? For starters, it means more natural elements, greens and clean lines.

“Expect bolder color and prints,” Madison added. “You’ll still find calm and timeless elements, but we're mixing in stronger personality!”

One of the newest pieces to hit the Down to Earth floor is this beauty—the Chelsea sofa. She’s already a best seller, which goes to show people are ready for this modern move.

If you aren’t sure if you’re ready, Madison has this advice: “Buy a safe sofa and spruce it up with a bolder pillow.” You’ll find plenty of gorgeous pillows to choose from, with new ones coming in every day.

A popular color combo you can expect this fall is mustard + navy.

“We are excited to add more navy,” Madison said. “It’s a neutral on its own and goes with nearly every color.”

DESIGN SERVICES

Designing a space can be intimidating. Working with a professional can make all the difference. You’re in luck! Did you know Down to Earth offers interior design services?

“We start by going to the home to do an hour consultation.” Madison said. “This helps us identify needs and functionality. How does the client use the space and what is their goal for it? For example, is a client looking for a piece they can keep a long time or do they want something less expensive that adds some fun pop for a while but won’t be a long-term item? A complete consultation helps us find the client’s perfect items to create a space they’ll adore.”

If the idea of working with a designer appeals to you, contact Down to Earth to schedule a home visit and get the process underway. 801.984.4105

3. Wait for your one-of-a-kind beauty to arrive. (Typically takes 6-8 weeks.)

FABRIC PICKING TIPS

Because there are so many fabrics to choose from for most items, it helps to come with a basic color idea in mind, but it isn’t required. You can bring in another piece from the space or a photo of the space if you want some help in choosing a hue/print. You’ll also want to mention any special needs you might have, such as a desire for kid-friendly fabric (easier to clean!).
