It’s always a great day when we get to introduce a new, locally owned Gardner Village shop. Today, we’re delighted to welcome Lilly & Vera. This darling boutique specializes in making someone (including you!) feel special by offering self-care essentials; beautiful jewelry and clothing items; the cutest in kitchenware; unique treats; holiday and seasonal pieces; and more! Let’s do a little e-window shopping and get a closer look!.
Owner Rachel De Vroom has a background in retail. Before opening this gorgeous shop earlier this summer, had another store in Provo and spent the years prior to that managing retail stores.
"There is much meaning and heart behind this business," Rachel said. "It begins with the name. I decided on Lilly & Vera as a tribute to my dear grandmother, Vera Lillian."
“I’m so excited about this move to Gardner Village,” Rachel said. “When my first born was a baby, I lived nearby. I would stop by on a regular basis and walk through with her. Over the years, we visit as a family often. To go from strolling through with my babies to now, having grown children and a store of my own is quite touching and almost surreal.”
While Lilly & Vera focuses on unique items for the home, your closet, and your gift list, much of the current focus is on Halloween.
“I can’t wait for my first WitchFest,” Rachel said. “Customers are already so excited by the Halloween items we have in, and we’re getting more pieces in all the time.”
It seems crazy to be saying this in AUGUST, but we all know that where there is Halloween, the holiday gifting season isn’t far behind. Lilly & Vera is an excellent spot to get a jump on your gift-giving endeavors. The items they carry are well-made and hand-selected. You won’t see these pieces in big-box stores.
“Acting as a buyer for my store is one of my favorite things to do,” Rachel added. “I want our shelves lined with neat things you won’t find everywhere else. I look at the details and the quality and bring in only the things that feel worthy and find giftable.”
Fun fact! Rachel’s husband is getting in on the action. He and a business partner just opened Refined, directly across the way from Lilly & Vera. It focuses on unique finds specifically geared towards men. Watch for more on it here on the blog soon.
“Friends we’ve met along the way, including at our previous store location, have been so supportive of our journey and endeavors,” Rachel said. “My husband and I look forward to this next chapter and keeping those connections going, welcoming old friends and new, as we grow these new businesses.”
As far as the plans for Lilly & Vera moving forward, Rachel already has big ideas. Visit the store often for more on make-and-take jewelry experiences, an enhanced jewelry line, and more.
Coming from England, she also has plans to share cream tea and scones on the beautiful store patio at some point in the future.
