Gardner Village Blog Help Us Feed Starving Children
Wednesday Apr 17 2019

The recent Notre Dame tragedy in Paris serves as a painful reminder of just how small our world really is. You watch such sadness unfold right along with the rest of the globe, sharing in the stunned shock and heartbreak of it all. But for as awful as it is, it also serves to connect and unite. People are inclined to set aside differences and simply support their fellow human when faced with devastation. It’s a beautiful thing. As we approach our fourth year of packing meals for Feed My Starving Children, we can’t help but feel that closeness. Yes, these life-changing meals will be delivered to hungry youngsters across the planet, but that really isn’t that far away, is it? We’re one people, and anything we can do to serve and strengthen our global community is time very well spent.

WHAT IS FEED MY STARVING CHILDREN?

It’s a chance to be a much-needed part of the hunger solution! At least 6,200 children die each day from hunger-related causes (UNICEF). Let’s pause and take that number in for just a moment… Can you imagine? It’s nearly impossible to comprehend. It’s what moves Gardner Village to partner with Kids Feeding Kids and Feed My Starving Children to pack meals. Meals that will save lives.

FACTS, FIGURES, HOPE

  • Each meal packed provides a child with enough nutrients to survive and thrive.
  • One meal is just .25 cents, and $80 feeds a child for an entire year! Your money really does go so far in this effort. In fact, you can feed an entire family for a year with $365—that’s just $1 a day.
  • Last year, Gardner Village packed 270,000 meals in just two days! This year, we’re increasing that goal to 350,000 meals.
  • This event is an opportunity to learn more about hunger related issues, pray for those in need, raise funds to cover the cost of meals, and pack those meals for the hungry.

We know packing 350,000 meals in two days is a huge number, but we also know we can make it happen. Together, we can do great things and make a difference. Thanks, from our hearts, to all involved.”—Angie Gerdes, Gardner Village Co-owner

We hope to see you at this year’s MobilePack. If you want to help but are unable to attend, you can learn more about Feed My Starving Children and this worthwhile cause here.
