Pack your bags and grab your passports! We’re about to embark on a trip around the world without even leaving the Salt Lake Valley. After its success as a Gardner Village pop-up shop, Wanderlust has permanently opened its doors for business!
Wanderlust gets its name from owner Courtney’s love of far-off places. She loves to travel the world and bring pieces of it back to you. To date, she’s visited 114 countries and counting! As a point of reference, there are 197 countries in the world, so Courtney is well on her way to her goal of visiting them all!
“I want to not only share my love of different countries and cultures with our local community, I also want to inspire people to plan and take trips of their own,” Courtney said. “Give yourself a year to plan and anything is possible.”
Courtney started sharing her travel bug with her family when she promised her nieces she’d take them to the country of their choosing when they turned 10. Making good on her promise, she took her oldest niece to France a couple of years ago and just returned from taking her younger niece to The Bahamas.
Courtney’s niece shared a few pics of their adventures on social media and her friend said she wanted to go to The Bahamas. Courtney’s niece’s reply was spot on: “You just need cooler aunts!”
Seems we could all use a few Aunt Courtneys in our life, sharing the world with us. Of course, with Wanderlust now open, we do have access to an Aunt Courtney after all!
AROUND THE WORLD IN 8 MINUTES
Courtney is so passionate about sharing all the world has to offer with her customers that she makes sure she has items from every country in her inventory.
“All 197 countries are represented in our shop,” Courtney said. “At least in a small way.”
“Well… all but Bulgaria,” Jen, Courtney’s coworker, added with a laugh. “We had a customer come in so excited to see the country represented that he bought what we had.”
A LOOK AT WOLRD TREASURES
Besides including every country, Courtney also knows the stories behind most of the products she cultivates. Talking with her is such fun! It’s more like visiting with a tour guide than a shop owner.
Worry Dolls
“These dolls are handmade by Mayan people in Guatemala,” Courtney explained. “The idea is that you tell a doll your worries and then place the doll under your pillow at night so it can then take your worries away.”
Handcarved Safari Animals
“These gorgeous animals are hand-carved in Kenya,” Courtney explained, as she lovingly set them up for this photo. It’s obvious great care goes into the selection of all Wanderlust has to offer
Treats & Eats
Perhaps one of the most delicious things about Wanderlust is its assortment of snacks from around the world. Wouldn’t it be fun to stop in with your children and share the flavors of the globe with them?
BUYING LOCAL, SUPPORTING GLOBAL
A portion of every Wanderlust purchase you make goes to charitywater.org, a non-profit organization striving to bring clean drinking water to every person in the world.
Ready to travel the globe? Wanderlust is open right here in West Jordan, Utah, at Gardner Village so you won’t even experience jetlag. Stop by for unique items you won’t find elsewhere and a memorable shopping experience!
