Leprechaun, eat your heart out! This famous green dish will leave you green with envy. It's the famous Fried Green Tomatoes from Archibald's Restaurant.
Just in time for St. Patrick's Day, the chefs at Archibald's are here to share this house favorite recipe with you. Whether you fry up a batch of green goodness at home or stop by and order some to go, you're sure to have a St. Patrick's Day treat the family will adore!
Fried Green Tomatoes
Step 1: Slice and dice. Cut your green tomatoes (tomatoes that have yet to ripen) into slices (roughly 1/4" thick).
Step 2: Mix salt, pepper, and flour in a shallow pan and dip your slices to coat.
Step 3: Time for the buttermilk! Take your dipped slices for a dip.
Step 4: Hello, panko! This breadcrumb mix is the last layer. Once you've coated your slices, add them to a wax paper-lined baking sheet and chill them in the freezer for at least 12 hours. This allows the layers to properly set before frying.
Step 5: Once chilled, fry your tomatoes for five to six minutes in canola oil and serve.
DIPPING SAUCE
For added flavor, serve your tomatoes with ranch salsa. It's as simple as pairing ranch dressing with salsa and sprinkling on some paprika. Yum!
Just like that, you have the perfect golden treat to serve at the end of your St. Patrick's Day rainbow. Enjoy!
