Stop at this green and white house that was once
the Dawson's home in 1933. Here, the air is perfumed
and you'll feel like you're in a Victorian dress
shop surrounded by dark red velvet cloaks, fringed
embroidered shawls, ornate dark wood furniture and
hats trailing with gauze and feathers. Whatever you
buy here seems to carry a little old-world magic,
in part because Tara, one of the owners, greets you
at the door dressed like a fairytale princess; with
her long yellow hair and crystal blue eyes, she's
even more convincing.
Don't be surprised if she asks
you if you'd like a little fairy dust, then stamps
some glitter onto your face. She'll tell you
stories about the merchandise: like the hanging
lockets that were made in France using the original
molds from the early 1900's. And that ballerina doll
dress hanging from a miniature hanger is not for a
doll, but meant for a fairy. We believe in fairies
around here, she'll tell you.
When you look around the shop you might think you've stumbled upon the
attic of Russian Princess Anastasia Romanov. Find
vintage-style jewelry, jeweled frames, miniature
perfume bottles, antique armoires and small glass
containers with ornate silver tops you can store
love letters in. All you need to feel feminine and
royal is here. Stately clocks hang on the walls and
the shop sells vintage looking items and furniture
that are reproductions of from the 18th century.
